Damaging Winds Snap Melbourne's Frankston Pier

Destructive winds caused part of Melbourne’s Frankston Pier to break off on August 9 as severe weather swept through Victoria.

The Bureau of Meteorology for Victoria said wind gusts could reach 120 kilometers per hour on Friday.

The Bureau of Meteorology had issued a series of weather warnings for bitter cold, strong winds, snow and blizzard conditions across Australia’s southeastern states.

The weather system was forecast to be the worst of the Australian winter so far this year.
