Good Morning Britain welcomed Dan Stevens back to the show on Friday (November 24).

The last time the Beauty and the Beast star was on the show, his interview with Susanna Reid went viral after she asked him about "beating off" other actors to a role – a remark which he found hilarious.

However, on this occasion, it was Dan's turn to be left red-faced after he made a unintentionally awkward comment about Andi Peters and colour.

"I'm completely gripped," he said. "This is the exact colour scheme I remember you from. It's like being in a time machine."

Poor Dan was actually referring to the pastel shades Andi was wearing for a competition segment where he was referencing the '90s – featuring an apperance from his CBBC Broom Cupboard companion Edd the Duck, and vintage archive clips of Andi's GMB colleagues Ben Shephard and Kate Garraway.

But Andi jokingly decided to make him feel a little awkward about his choice of words and hit back: "I've always been this colour, Dan. What are you talking about?"

Dan then looked embarrassed as he put his face in his hands, as presenters Ben Shepherd and Kate Garrway laughed.

"Boy, that's awkward," Ben said. "That's so awkward. Every time [Dan] is on, he does something that goes viral."

Dan was actually appearing on the show to promote his new film The Man Who Invented Christmas.

It tells the story of how Charles Dickens came to write A Christmas Carol, and Dan plays the iconic author in the movie.

"You know, he wrote that book in six weeks," the Downton Abbey and Legion star revealed. "The publishers thought he was mad!

"I really dived into the man behind this book. We think of the Victorian period as very dull, but he was this very sane, calm man, who wrote all these wonderful novels."

Good Morning Britain is on ITV, weekdays at 6am.
