Dan Walker made a scathing response to Piers Morgan after the Good Morning Britain host lambasted his interview skills.

Morgan’s comments come after the BBC Breakfast presenter tweeted about the interview he conducted with Prime Minister Boris Johnson on Tuesday.

"Glad so many of you enjoyed our #BBCBreakfast exclusive with the PM yesterday,” Walker wrote. “I fundamentally believe in being fair, polite & robust with every guest. Ranting helps no-one. I want you to listen to THEM not me. You can ‘speak’ truth to power... you don’t have to ‘shout’ it."

But Morgan was of the opinion that Walker hadn't given the Prime Minister a hard enough ride with his questioning, comparing it to the time Johnson appeared to hide in a freezer to avoid being interviewed by GMB reporter Jonathan Swain.

"Mate, you’re now Boris’s go-to guy for cuddly fireside government propaganda chat," he responded. "He hides in fridges from us for a reason - we’d ask him difficult questions."

He also added: "Hi Prime Minister @BorisJohnson, I’m really keen to follow up on @mrdanwalker’s penetrating interview with you yesterday. Do you prefer Gorgonzola or Camberbert cheese?"

His morning TV rival hit back with a brutal critique of his own as Walker posted a photograph from a 2018 interview Morgan held with President of the United States Donald Trump where the presenter gifted the politician with an Arsenal shirt.

Walker captioned his sharp response: "Morning. It’s just really difficult for me to emulate your hard-hitting no-nonsense style."

It's not the first cross words the pair have shared as they’ve regularly feuded on social media.

Walker has previously criticised Morgan for "picking" on Prince Harry and Meghan Markle in the wake of their ITV documentary last year after he accused the royals of making the programme about their "own struggle".

Morgan has still continued in his tirades against the couple as he also hit out at the Duke and Duchess' latest move to step down as senior members of the Royal Family, suggesting Markle had "split" Prince Harry from his family.
