Maura Higgins and Joe Swash have launched this year's Dancing on Ice competition - with fellow competitors Caprice and Michael Barrymore joining them at a photocall.

The Love Island star, 29, and former EastEnders actor, 37, donned their sequinned outfits and strutted along the white carpet ahead of the new season.

They will star alongside Ian H Watkins, Trisha Goddard, Caprice, Lisa George, Lucrezia Millarini, Kevin Kilbane, Perri Kiely, Libby Clegg and Ben Hanlin.

Since leaving the island, Higgins has won several endorsement deals, including becoming a brand ambassador for BooHoo and starting a podcast.

She has also had several presenting stints on This Morning, including a special on her hometown, which was dubbed Maura's Love Ireland.

Meanwhile Swash has focused on television presenting since leaving the soap, as well as being a father of two, including to baby Rex - his son he shares with partner Stacey Solomon.

Speaking about the stint, Higgins said: "I've skated once in my life for fun, so I've no experience at all. I'm up for the challenge. I'm more excited than scared. I'm competitive so I think that will drive me."

Swash revealed the news of his latest venture on Loose Women, saying: “I can’t even dance on a dance floor, so Dancing On Ice is just a silly idea! I’ve done no exercise since the baby was born. Stacey thinks it’s funny. I’m going to learn how to skate and I’ll do it with a smile on my face.”

This year will see 12 celebrities skating live with their professional partners in a bid to impress both the panel and the viewers, who will ultimately decide who wins the show.

John Barrowman, Torvill and Dean and Ashley Banjo will be on the judging panel.

Love Island 2017 winner Kem Cetinay will be the digital presenter.

The show will air in early 2020 on ITV.
