Dancing on Ice has announced the seventh famous face joining the 2025 series.

Footballer and pundit Anton Ferdinand is set to strap on his skates early next year to join the star-studded competition.

Ferdinand retired from professional football in 2019 but played for a range of clubs throughout his career including West Ham, QPR, Sunderland and Reading.

He comes from a family of famous footballers with his brother Rio and cousin Les both having played for England.

Confirming the news on talkSPORT Radio, Ferdinand shared his excitement to swap the football pitch for the ice rink.

"I decided to sign up for the show because it's a challenge first and foremost," he enthused. "I'm in a new phase of my life since retiring from football and the one of the things I've missed about playing is the structure it gives you.

"Dancing on Ice will give me that focus but I'm also doing it for my daughter because she loves dance and performing arts.

"My son always had my football to shout about so this will give my daughter and me something to share."

Ferdinand is the seventh celebrity to be confirmed in the 2025 cast, but he’s not the only sports star in the line-up as he’ll join Olympic rowing legend Sir Steve Redgrave.

From the world of reality TV, TOWIE star Ferne McCann and The Traitors finalist Mollie Pearce will also be taking to the ice next year.

Meanwhile, Coronation Street’s Sam Aston, EastEnders icon Charlie Brooks, and comedian Josh Jones have also been announced in the cast.

Dancing on Ice will return in 2025 on ITV1 and ITVX.
