Max Evans' Dancing on Ice partner Ale Izquierdo will not be performing on this week's show.

Ale's absence is not due to the earlier fall she sustained, and ITV has confirmed that rugby star Max will be skating with a new partner on Sunday (February 25).

A spokesperson for the reality series explained that Ale will not be performing "owing to illness". Max will instead be dancing alongside Brandee Malto.

Ale also added the following statement: "Sad to announce that unfortunately I won't be able to take part of the competition this Sunday due to being diagnosed with the flu.

"Wishing the best to my partner this Sunday. He will be skating with my really good friend Brandee! Im sure they will do really good!"

Get well soon, Ale!

Brandee left the competition in last week's cruel double elimination, after her and Antony Cotton's performance to 'From New York to LA' performance failed to impress viewers or the judges.

Here's hoping that Brandee's new skating partnership with Max will court a little less controversy, as Coronation Street star Antony often found himself under fire from some fans of the show.

After receiving brutal feedback from Jason Gardiner (obvs), Antony insisted he was doing his best and that comparative his lack of progress was not his fault.

Responding to Jason's comment that he felt Antony had "given up", the actor said: "Hey, the audience at home are voting me in – it's not my fault. I'm doing my best, what can I do?"

Dancing on Ice continues on Sunday (February 25) at 6pm on ITV with fairytale week.
