Dancing on Ice star Melody Thornton is already well-prepared for all the haters to complain that she's got an advantage because of her past with the Pussycat Dolls.

After all, the popstar has seen her former groupmate Ashley Roberts face an unprecedented amount of criticism from the public during her recent stint on Strictly Come Dancing on those very same grounds.

When Digital Spy and other media recently caught up with Melody during the Dancing on Ice press day, she was keen to clear up confusion about how dancing in a pop group doesn't really equate with skating.

"I actually did think that I might get that [criticism], but the good thing about this show is that I'm not a dancer," she insisted.

"I get to tell that story. I'm the only person from that group, the Pussycat Dolls, that was not a dancer. I was always in back of formation."

Melody will definitely be learning the craft of ice dancing from one of the best in the sport, having been paired with new pro Alexander Demetriou for the upcoming series.

Demetriou joined the show for its 2019 series along with his wife Carlotta Edwards, who has been paired with former EastEnders actor Richard Blackwood.

Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby will be reuniting on screen to present the premiere of Dancing on Ice, as six couples take to the rink on Sunday, January 6. Then, the remaining six will compete the following Sunday (January 13).
