Dancing On Ice spoilers follow.

Dancing On Ice revealed the winners of this year's competition after a tense final that saw drag queen The Vivienne, TOWIE star Joey Essex, and Olympic gymnast Nile Wilson all go head to head to be crowned champion of the ice rink.

Only one could win, however, and it was Nile and his partner Olivia Smart who won this year's series after Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield announced the results of the public vote.

Joey and Vanessa Bauer finished in second place while The Vivienne and her partner Colin Grafton finished third.

Third place was announced before the ultimate winner was revealed, meaning that Joey and Nile both had to perform the famous Bolero dance with their respective partners before the results were announced.

The finale kicked off with each of the three couples performing their own showcase skate routines. First up was Nile, who became the first-ever male celebrity to perform the infamous headbanger move.

The performance was a success and Christopher Dean called the performance "speechless." The other judges — Jayne Torvill, Ashley Banjo, and Oti Mabuse — all agreed and awarded them the maximum score of 40 (four marks of 10).

That set the tone of excellence for the rest of the night as The Vivienne and Colin also earned the same perfect score after dancing to Katy Perry's 'Dark Horse'.

Joey then charmed audiences with his own showcase, which included dressing up as Hercules, and also achieved a perfect 40.

Then the couples took part in a 'skate battle'. All three couples danced at the same time hoping to impress the judges and, more importantly, the voting viewers — the final was decided entirely by the public vote.

After that, third place was announced and it was The Vivienne and Colin who finished as bronze medallists while Joey and Nile performed their own versions of the Bolero, which was made famous by judges Torvill and Dean.

It was Nile who was then declared the winner after the public fell in love with his finale performance and his consistency throughout the series. He follows in the footsteps of last year's winner, Regan Gascoigne, to be crowned champion of the ice.

Dancing on Ice airs on ITV1 and ITVX.
