Dancing on Ice viewers switch off after Gemma Collins axe as ratings drop

Dancing on Ice ratings dropped after Gemma Collins’ exit from the show.

The TOWIE star was booted off a week ago after a final skate off against fellow competitor Ryan Sidebottom.

On the night Collins was voted off the show, an estimated 5.4 million viewers tuned in to watch compared to 4.9 million the following week to watch Sidebottom and Jane Danson get the boot in a double elimination.

Collins' final show saw an audience peak of 6.5 million viewers, while last Sunday's episode had a peak of 5.6 million.

A source told The Sun: “This was always producers’ fears — that when Gemma went, interest would wane.

“They’re hoping for some fresh drama to give them another boost.”

Following her exit, Collins admitted to feeling "embarrassed" by her public spat with judge Jason Gardiner, who made several comments about her weight.

She told how she "regrets" the harsh exchange of words but felt like she had to "stand her ground against body shaming".

Reports have also since surfaced that the reality star is said to be cashing in on the back of her success on the show by reportedly charging as much as £13,000 per club appearance.

After seeing Collins’ two-stone weight loss during her time on the show, her boyfriend James Argent has told how he hopes to lose seven-stone before considering signing up for the next series.
