Holly Willoughby broke news of a big result shake-up for Dancing on Ice, with an announcement that was welcomed by many viewers at home. And the big news is that the skate-off will be back, after being shelved for the first weeks of the new series.

Having hosted all but one series of the ITV show, since it crowned its first winner in 2006, Holly is back on presenting duty again for the new series, alongside Stephen Mulhern for the second year in a row. Following the exits of Chelsee Healey and Ferne McCann in weeks two and three, the pressure was on the remaining skating stars to avoid the chop, as they joined their pro partners to perform 'personal' skates, to songs that meant something to them.

After dedicating his latest routine to his nan, who was sat in the Dancing on Ice audience, Dan Edgar topped the leaderboard with a new series high score of 35 out of 40, with Michaela Strachan and Anton Ferdinand just one point behind him as they tied in second. At the other end of the standings was Olympic legend Sir Steve Redgrave, who finished bottom again, although he did get a new personal best score of 21.5.

It ended up being the rowing champion who became the latest celeb to get the boot, but, before this week's Dancing on Ice result was was revealed by Holly and Stephen, Holly had some big news for all of the remaining skaters and viewers at home, with her telling them: "Listen, I have an announcement to make. Things are going to change next week, because.....the skate-off is back! So that does change everything."

Having been annoyed at Chelsee and Ferne going home before Sir Steve, with no second chance to try and stay in the competition, Dancing on Ice fans were quick to celebrate the skate-off's return. Writing on X: "Glad Skate Off is back next week" as, giving their thoughts, a second reacted: "Bringing back the skate off next week is good but also frustrating. I think that they should’ve chosen to continue with no skate off each week, so that it is fair on the couples that left recently"
