Yahoo News Dancing on Ice's Torvill and Dean tease "last ever" performance
Dancing on Ice duo Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean have teased their “last ever” performance together, saying it was “time” to hang up the skates.
The ice skating duo – who won a gold medal at the 1984 Winter Olympics – have appeared on the ITV show since its first season back in 2006, eventually moving onto the judging panel from the 10th season.
With the show set to air its 17th season, starting on Sunday (January 12), the pair spoke with Daily Mail about their final performance, though they did clarify that they would remain on the panel for the foreseeable future.

“This is our last year, so it's a big one,” said the pair. “We are going to do two performances during the series but the second will be our last ever on television. We will still do the show, but not skate anymore, ending with our tour in the summer.

“We have been with the show from the beginning, we developed it with ITV. It's hard to know what impact it will have, and how we feel,” they continued, before speaking about the reasons behind their retirement.
“We knew on our 50th year we would hang our skates up. The idea of not having a schedule will be different. We thought this year was a good time to do it. Now we both have a bus pass, it's time.”

The pair, who served as experts on the show in the first nine seasons, announced their retirement back in February, with Dean saying: “I think there comes a time when you know, we're not spring chickens anymore but we're still able to do it to a certain degree that we feel good about it but that will go.
“So, I think this is the right time for us to be able to do that and go and skate and do some of the old routines, be very nostalgic, but then do some new fun, upbeat (dances) with friends of ours from the skating world and from Dancing on Ice.”
