Dancing on Ice has revealed that Steps singer Ian ‘H’ Watkins and Coronation Street star Lisa George are set to take part in the popular ITV show’s upcoming series.

Watkins confirmed his involvement on Good Morning Britain on Thursday 26 September. During the interview, he confessed to hosts Ben Shephard and Kate Garraway that he’s been “frantically” watching YouTube videos of former contestants James Jordan and Ray Quinn in order to pick up tips.

"I have kids now so it's a skill I can learn and take my kids to the ice,” he added, explaining why he was so keen to take part.

"It's scary and exciting and now there's no turning back. I know I'm going to be put through my paces and that's the name of the game."

The Tragedy hitmaker went on to admit that he’d actually auditioned for the show twice, before successfully make it onto the roster this time round.

"Third time lucky,” he joked.

Later on Lorraine, George - who plays Beth Tinker on the aforementioned soap - talked about how nerve-wracking it was to get back onto the ice after 40 years during her first training session yesterday.

"It was good, I really enjoyed it, I didn't fall. I was a bit scared, I was quite nervous,” she noted. “I can't believe I'm 50 next year and I just thought 'If I don't do this now I'm never going to have the chance to do it again'."

When the new series kicks off in early 2020, Watkins and George will be competing against previously confirmed contestants Michael Barrymore, footballer Kevin Kilbane, newsreader Lucrezia Molinari and Love Island favourite Maura Higgins.

They’ll all be hoping to impress judges Christopher Dean, Jane Torvill, Ashley Banjo and panel newbie John Barrowman.

Other famous faces rumoured to be taking part include Diversity star Perri Kiely, former EastEnders actor Joe Swash and talk show host Trisha Goddard.
