Rebekah Vardy has become the latest celebrity to be voted out of Dancing On Ice, leaving the remaining contestants to battle it out in next week's semi-final.

Vardy and her partner Andy Buchanan went up against Lady Leshurr in the skate-off, with all of the judges except for John Barrowman choosing to save Lady Leshurr.

Footballer's wife and reality TV star Vardy knew it was her time to leave after some stumbles in the skate-off and could be heard saying to Buchanan afterwards: "I screwed up so bad."

Both contestants had been in the skate-off before - Vardy once and Lady Leshurr twice previously.

That leaves Lady Leshurr to take part in next week's semi-final alongside Colin Jackson, Faye Brooks and Sonny Jay.

Dancing On Ice returned to TV tonight with a movies theme, after taking last week off because so many celebrities had dropped out of the series.

But some viewers complained that many of the contestants - including Vardy - were overmarked tonight, wondering whether it was a deliberate move to bring some excitement back to the competition.

This year's line-up has lost five of its original members through injury and positive coronavirus tests, and used up both of its reserve skaters.

So many of the show's stars have had to quit mid-series that it was announced this week the final would be brought forward by a week, to March 14.

Jason Donovan is the latest to have dropped out with a back injury that had already seen him miss one show, and Joe-Warren Plant, who had been a fan favourite, had to leave after a positive coronavirus test.

Billie Shepherd quit after a concussion in training, Rufus Hound also tested positive for coronavirus, and Denise Van Outen broke her shoulder just before making her ice debut.

Faye Brooks skated with new partner Matt Evers for the first time tonight - Evers had partnered Van Outen but stepped in to replace Hamish Gaman who had to quit this week with a finger injury.

Both reserve celebrity skaters Amy Tinkler and Matt Richardson have already been voted out of the contest, Richardson in the first episode he took part in.
