Dancing On Ice has eliminated another celebrity skater - despite two of its contestants being absent from the show.

Graham Bell was voted out of the ITV contest after going up against Rebekah Vardy in the skate-off, with all four judges choosing Vardy to stay after saying she had stepped up the skating content.

However, Bell was unlucky to face elimination in a week where two of his competitors were not on the ice - Rufus Hound is still self-isolating and Billie Shepherd took a week out after her grandmother’s death.

The show went on for Dancing On Ice as usual though, including a public vote, as the contestants faced their first themed episode with Musicals On Ice, featuring routines inspired by Hamilton, Grease and The Bodyguard.

Talking about his exit, Bell said: “I felt like we’ve got a lot more technical skating and good skating, but hey-ho.

“But the worst thing is, there’s great snow in the Alps and no-one can get out there.”

Viewers were shocked by the panel’s decision, with many arguing that Olympic skier Bell was a stronger skater than Vardy.

Tonight’s live episode also saw Olympic gymnast Amy Tinkler’s ice debut as she stepped in to replace Denise Van Outen, who has had to quit the show with a broken shoulder.

Tinkler’s Fame-inspired routine was a hit with viewers and judges as she showed off her gymnastic ability.

At the top of the leaderboard were Joe-Warren Plant and Vanessa Bauer, although the actor admitted he was shocked to score 30 for his Hamilton skate.

He said: “To be honest, I was gutted with how I performed.”

Judge Jayne Torvill told him: “You felt you didn’t give the best performance you could, but that’s why you work hard, so even on an off day it’s still good enough.”

Lady Leshurr, who was in last week’s skate-off, was voted straight through to the next round by viewers tonight and also got a glowing endorsement from celebrity fan Judge Rinder who called in to plead her case for staying in the contest.
