Dancing On Ice has shocked viewers with a dramatic semi-final result, voting out Lady Leshurr just at the moment it seemed that she had made the final.

Lady Leshurr was in the semi-final skate-off, where she was up against Colin Jackson - and after the first two judges' votes, it looked like she was heading through to the final week of the competition with Faye Brooks and Sonny Jay.

But after Ashley Banjo and John Barrowman chose to save her, both Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean said that they thought Jackson had been the better skater, putting him through to the final and sending Lady Leshurr home.

The result was particularly shocking to viewers as at the beginning of the episode Lady Leshurr had become the first contestant of the series to score a perfect 40 for her routine using props.

However, she took the vote with good humour, saying: "I am actually so happy because I love Colin, every time he comes out he's smiling and he's so genuine."

Her second skate had left viewers in tears as she shared the inspiration behind it - the story of how she had lost her sister Carmen to breast cancer just a year earlier.

Lady Leshurr wasn't the only celebrity with an emotional tale to tell in the semi-final, as Sonny Jay spoke about losing his friend and colleague Joe as he introduced his second skate, and Faye Brooks paid tribute to her brother for getting through his 10-year battle with leukaemia in hers.

Next week's final will air a week earlier than originally planned as the series has had to be cut short after five celebrities quit Dancing On Ice.

They had to take a week off mid-series, too, after Denise Van Outen, Billie Shepherd and Jason Donovan left due to injury, and Rufus Hound and Joe-Warren Plant both had to quit after receiving positive coronavirus tests.

The series also saw pro skater Yebin Mok drop out before it began after an injury in training that required surgery, while Brooks' original partner Hamish Gaman also had to leave over a finger injury - bringing back Matt Evers to take his place.
