Dancing With The Stars: Queer Eye's Karamo Brown defends fellow contestant Sean Spicer – 'He's a good guy'

Queer Eye star Karamo Brown has publicly defended his fellow Dancing With The Stars contestant Sean Spicer, insisting that the former White House communications director is a “good guy”.

Brown and Spicer are both part of the new Dancing With The Stars cast unveiled on Wednesday.

The Queer Eye culture expert commented on the inclusion of Spicer in the new season’s line-up after being asked by Access who he thought his most skilled challenger was.

While he didn’t name Spicer as his biggest competition, he brought up the former White House aide, telling the platform: “Let me tell you something. Sean Spicer and I have been talking.

“I was most excited to meet him. The thing is that people would look at us and think that we’re polar opposites but I’m a big believer that if you can talk to someone and meet in the middle, you can learn about each other and help each other both grow.

“And so we have been chatting all day today. He’s a good guy. Really sweet guy.”

Brown’s comment have prompted backlash on social media, mainly owing to Spicer’s record in the White House.

Spicer’s tenure in Donald Trump’s administration began with him insisting that the crowd at Mr Trump’s inauguration had been the largest ever, despite photographic evidence showing that that was not true.

Spicer later claimed that Hitler didn’t use chemical weapons.

Brown also commented on Spicer’s presence on Dancing With The Stars on Twitter, where he wrote: “First, I have no say who is on the cast and didn’t find out till this morning that he is on!

“But I’ll tell you this... I’m excited to sit down w/ him and engage in respectful conversations. Only way things get better is if we try to educate those who have different POV than us.”

Dancing With The Stars‘ 28th season will premiere on 16 September on ABC.
