'Dangerous' HGV with smashed up windscreen pulled over by police
An HGV near Amesbury on the A303 on Saturday morning was pulled over after receiving multiple reports from the public about a smashed up windscreen. A representative of Wiltshire Police's specialist ops took to X just before noon, posting a shocking picture of the damaged windscreen: "Stopped this HGV on the A303 near Amesbury after multiple calls from members of the public.
"Prohibition issued and driver reported for vehicle in dangerous condition."
The picture made waves on social media, with almost 16,000 views and 255 likes on X as of time of writing. One user quipped "I'd love to know what excuse he gave officers on scene".

Another person joked: "Who was driving, the Terminator?". Other comments speculated that the driver would have been better off removing the windscreen completely than driving it in that condition.
The roads policing unit also seized a car with no insurance in Swindon, writing that "cheap motoring runs in the family": "RPU saw this vehicle driven in Swindon today. It has the same keeper as a vehicle we seized yesterday for no insurance.
"The brother was driving this one. He had no insurance or entitlement to drive in the UK. Cheap motoring runs in the family. Vehicle seized and driver reported."
