Jack Fincham has snapped back at critics who accused him of buying a dog as an “accessory” after his girlfriend Dani Dyer was inundated with nasty comments from fans.
The 2018 Love Island winners this week revealed they had become a family of three after moving Sandy the bulldog into their London flat.
But the decision upset fans who feared for the animal’s welfare, while others took aim at the couple for buying a dog as opposed to rescuing one in need of a home.
Fincham, who had disabled all comments on posts about his pet on Instagram, hit back, insisting he will give her “the best possible life”.
Tweeting alongside a picture of himself hugging Sandy he wrote: “This will be the first time I’ve ever brought up a puppy myself. My family and I have always rescued dogs and continue to do so only two weeks ago was the last one.
“I will give this puppy the best possible life, love and care. A dog is for life. We just fell in love with her.”
The reality TV couple introduced fans to their new addition earlier this week as they shared videos of Sandy on route to their flat and relaxing in her personalised bed.
Dyer also shared a video of the puppy who had kept her up all night crying.
The pair are said to have been “at each other’s necks,” according to a source who also told The Sun “tensions between them are mounting”.
But a spokesperson for the couple dismissed the claims, telling Standard Online: “We try not to pay too much attention to all the gossip. We’re just really happy at the moment and are enjoying spending so much time together filming our new show.”
