Daniel Craig is now the second longest-serving Bond

Daniel Craig's original casting as James Bond was met with scepticism back in 2005, but he managed to prove the haters wrong from the moment he dispatched of that guy in the toilets at the beginning of Casino Royale.

And now he's passed another 007 milestone as the second-longest serving actor to play the iconic spy.

Craig has overtaken Pierce Brosnan with 4,147 days in the role, having starred in Casino Royale, Quantum of Solace, Skyfall and Spectre.

The longest-serving Bond remains Sir Roger Moore, who stayed 5,118 days in the role over seven movies.

In fourth place is Sir Sean Connery (who left after You Only Live Twice, but came back for Diamonds Are Forever), followed by Timothy Dalton and one-hit-wonder George Lazenby

The full rankings are as follows:

  • Roger Moore - 5,118 days

  • Daniel Craig - 4,147 days

  • Pierce Brosnan - 4,146 days

  • Sean Connery - 3,049 days

  • Timothy Dalton - 2,863 days

  • George Lazenby - 875 days

While Craig may have lasted a while as 007, his future in the role is very much up in the air at the moment.

Producers are reportedly anxious, as Craig has not given his final decision over whether he wants to continue in the franchise, having previously revealed that a return "would only be for the money".

One of the many fans who wants a Craig comeback is Brosnan himself, who recently said: "I'd love to see Daniel Craig go again. He definitely should make another one.

"He's a magnificent, dynamic Bond who came onto the stage at a time when it really needed invigorating, and he did that brilliantly."
