Has Daniel Craig secretly signed on for Bond 25?

From Digital Spy

Daniel Craig's name was noticeably left off this week's announcement that Bond 25 will arrive in two years' time - but he's apparently very much involved.

The New York Times is reporting that Craig has actually agreed in principle to a new deal with Eon Productions that will see him return for at least one more adventure.

Neither Eon or MGM have commented on this latest report, but the information has allegedly come from two separate sources involved in the contract negotiations.

If the deal is ultimately done, it will signify the end of a period of huge instability for the James Bond franchise over the last few years.

Just after finishing 2015's Spectre, Craig made his disinterest in another Bond film very public with the use of violent imagery fit for one of 007's baddies.

"I'd rather break this glass and slash my wrists [than do another one right now]," he told a reporter back in the autumn of 2015.

However, his position noticeably softened over time - especially after unsubstantiated rumours claiming that he'd been offered $150 million by Eon for two films.

"As far as I'm concerned, I've got the best job in the world," he recently said. "I'll keep doing it as long as I still get a kick out of it."

As far as officially-announced information about Bond 25 goes, Eon confirmed this week that the film's script is being written by the duo of Neal Purvis and Robert Wade. They have worked on every Bond film since Pierce Brosnan's outing The World Is Not Enough in 1999.

Their latest offering will arrive in US cinemas on November 8, 2019, with an earlier opening date for the UK to be announced in due course.
