Oscar-winning director Danny Boyle will no longer direct Bond 25 due to “creative differences”, it has been announced.

The official Bond Twitter account confirmed on Tuesday that the Trainspotting boss was no longer part of the team overseeing what it tipped to be Daniel Craig’s last film.

Alongside the iconic 007 image, the tweet read: “Michael G. Wilson, Barbara Broccoli and Daniel Craig today announced that due to creative differences Danny Boyle has decided to no longer direct Bond 25.”

No further information about the decision has been given.

Boyle was first linked to the film, scheduled for release in 2019, back in March when he hinted he was “working on a script” for the famous franchise.

In May, Boyle was officially confirmed to be at the helm of the hotly-anticipated film, set to go in to production in early December.

Wilson and Brocolli made the announcement, saying: ““We are delighted to announce that the exceptionally talented Danny Boyle will be directing Daniel Craig in his fifth outing as James Bond in the 25th installment of the franchise.”

“We will begin shooting Bond 25 at Pinewood Studios in December with our partners at MGM and are thrilled that Universal will be our international distributor.”

Boyle worked with Craig on a short Bond film as part of the London Olympics opening ceremony back in 2012.

Titular actor Craig is set to hang up his black jacket after the November 2019 release, with the rumour mill about his replacement in full swing.

Names being bandied about for the iconic role include Idris Elba, Cillian Murphy and James Norton
