Danny Dyer has addressed whether he'd ever join Strictly Come Dancing.

The former EastEnders star seems to pop up on rumoured cast lists for Strictly every year, as viewers would love to see one of the nation's favourite TV dads doing the tango on telly.

Unfortunately, Danny recently told The Sun that he's not interested in signing up for Strictly since he has other dream jobs he'd prefer to pursue.

"The obvious role I’d love to play is James Bond, you know, a cockney Bond," he explained.

“Or I would like to maybe have a go at Doctor Who, something that’s been played by many different actors before, and put my own spin on it, my own take on it."

Danny then revealed: "I get offered to do Strictly every year, and it’s not for me. I’ve got no desire to be [dancing] around in sequins.

“Ultimately, I’m still searching for what that ultimate role would be.”

With Strictly seemingly ruled out, Danny's fans should still have hope that his EastEnders character Mick Carter could reappear in Walford.

The actor recently said he'd be interested in returning for EastEnders' 40th anniversary celebrations next year to bring closure to Mick's story.

"I think if they did it right, with the 40th anniversary coming up, if they came up with an idea of maybe Linda drunk or hallucinating, then I would come back and do some scenes with her," he told Heatworld. "You know, because I do miss Kellie [Bright, co-star], and I think maybe that would stop people asking me when I’m f**king going back!"

In the meantime, Danny is quite busy with starring roles in the Disney+ adaptation of Dame Jilly Cooper's novel Rivals opposite David Tennant and Aidan Turner, as well as the Sky series Mr Bigstuff.

Strictly Come Dancing will return later this year on BBC One, while spin-off Strictly: It Takes Two airs on weeknights on BBC Two. Both shows are available to stream on BBC iPlayer.
