Strictly Come Dancing's Danny John-Jules is determined to fight through the increasing pain of a foot injury he's suffered while training for the show.

The Red Dwarf legend had to briefly stop rehearsing in the run-up to last weekend's first live show in order to bandage his toes because they'd started to swell so severely.

In the end, Danny showed tremendous resilience fighting through the pain to earn praise from the judges and an impressive score of 27 for his Foxtrot on Saturday. Watch the dance below:

Danny offered an update on his injury on Strictly Come Dancing: It Takes Two on Tuesday (September 25), when host Zoe Ball asked if his feet were once again holding up rehearsals.

"My toes were so swollen… and then you go to bed, and it's gone up your leg to cramp," he explained, adding: "Any dance is always dancing through pain."

Asked if the injury was slowing them down, Danny's professional partner Amy Dowden insisted: "I don't let it! He came in and said, 'My feet are really swollen', and I said, 'Yeah, you're still gonna work them'."

"Somehow she gets me working, no matter what," Danny added.

The pairing are now looking ahead to Week 2, where they'll attempt the Cha Cha Cha to 'Beggin' by Madcon in a routine that Amy is already promising will be ambitious.

"I've made it really challenging… I've made it so many steps," she admitted. "I want to show that I put in every type of Cha Cha Cha action in, and that we worked really hard on the footwork.

"Obviously, his feet are probably going to be in even more pain than they were last week!"
