Strictly Come Dancing star Danny John-Jules has joked that he joined the show because of the show’s well known curse.

The Death In Paradise actor made the comment when he made an appearance on ‘Lorraine’ alongside professional dance partner Amy Dowden.

Responding to Lorraine Kelly’s question about romance on the show, John-Jules quipped: “That was the draw. That what’s got the ink on the paper,” before he added that he would be “sleeping on the floor tonight” once his wife found out what he had said.

Whilst Lorraine commented that relationships have been formed on the show, Danny commented: “Not to me! I’ve been hoping for that but I’ve got nothing!”

Praising Dowden and their working relationship, the actor said: “The great thing about us, we came in professional and we’re going to go out professional.”

Ahead of their performance on Saturday night, Lorraine reminded the professional dancing couple that they were only a few weeks away from performing in Blackpool.

Revealing that he wanted to get to Blackpool for Amy, John-Jules said: “To be honest with you, I’d always said I’d like to win the show but I’d like to enjoy it more. But for Amy, it’s to get her past the threshold.”

Meanwhile, John-Jules recently revealed that he doesn’t socialise with his Strictly Come Dancing co-stars because he wants to focus on his next routine.

“I haven’t socialised with any of those people outside the show. My focus is my next number.

“I have not been out after work with one single member of the cast, not once have I been out with them, whatever it is,” he continued to comment to The Sun.

“Anything that is part of our contract, for example It Takes Two, I’ll do, but as far as socialising, I have not been out with one member of the cast,” he said.

Strictly Come Dancing continues on Saturday on BBC One at 7pm.
