Dara O Briain commentates on cricket ahead of England vs Ireland ODI series

Irish comedian Dara O Briain has tried his hand at cricket commentary ahead of the Royal London ODI Series between England and Ireland.

Evidently not overly familiar with the game, O Briain sat down with a microphone in hand to run through the highlights of the two teams' match-up from 2013.

After a string of big hits from his fellow countrymen, O Briain's enthusiastic commentary turns cautious as the tide turns.

"Did you bring me here to show me Ireland losing?" he asks a producer off camera. "I had a whole ‘Theresa May your boys took a hell of a beating’ speech planned, you can’t do that about Ireland.

"I am not sure ‘Graham Norton, Bono, Jedward, that fat bloke from Robot Wars your boys took a hell of beating’ works as well."

O Briain is put back on course when highlights switch to the famous Ireland triumph over England at the 2011 Cricket World Cup.

England and Ireland are set to meet again on May 5 and 7, the latter being the first ever ODI match on English soil, and O Briain is confident.

"Oh we’ll hammer them. We will get 409 and they’ll get 12," he said.

"No to be fair I think it will be a pretty even series. I expect England to win the match at Bristol and then come to the second match at Lord’s slightly cocky.

"At the Home of Cricket, I think Ireland will post a huge score and then cleverly declare the game over."
