Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, The Defenders, and The Punisher are now available to stream on Disney+ in 4K.

The live action Marvel series — which began life on Netflix — joined other Marvel shows like Loki, Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Hawkeye on the platform in March, 2022. They've now been upgraded to 4K definition, making them available for Disney+ subscribers to watch in the highest available definition available on the platform.

Marvel Television created 13 seasons of interconnected shows for Netflix beginning with Daredevil, starring Charlie Cox in the title role, in 2015. That was followed by Jessica Jones with Krysten Ritter, 2016 saw the launch of Luke Cage with Mike Colter, and Iron Fist with Finn Jones in 2017.

Those characters then came together in 2017's The Defenders, and two seasons of The Punisher with Jon Bernthal followed. Netflix cancelled all of its Marvel shows in late 2018, with the rights returning to Disney after two years, and removed the shows from the platform at the start of March 2022.

Due to the adult nature of the Netflix shows, these live-action Marvel shows will be locked behind Disney+'s robust age-gating system, keeping them away from younger viewers.

Whether these series are considered canon in the MCU remains to be seen, but with Daredevil's Matt Murdock appearing in Spider-Man: No Way Home, and Vincent D'Onofrio's Kingpin appearing in Hawkeye, it looks like the door is open for The Defenders to return in some capacity down the line.

Talking during a recent panel at the Middle East Film and Comic Con 2022 in Abu Dhabi, Cox said he hoped Daredevil would be reinvented.

"I don't think it makes sense to pick up where we left off," he's reported as saying. "I think... in keeping with a lot of things in the MCU right now, where there's this kind of alternate reality, kind of thing going on... so it’s a good moment to have this, you know, there’s been… a few years have passed, you know, and now I don’t know it’s Daredevil but maybe there’s it’s not quite… it’s reimagined."
