Just when everyone was getting excited at the thought of Darth Vader turning up in the Star Wars spin-off movie for Han Solo, turns out it was one big misunderstanding and it's seemingly not going to happen after all.

Spencer Wilding played the iconic villain in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (although the role was played by a different actor, Daniel Naprous, in the epic final scene).

And rumours were abuzz earlier this week when US convention FandomFest announced that Wilding had to cancel his appearance because "he will be filming the newest film in the Star Wars Universe".

Naturally, as the only Star Wars film shooting at the moment is the Han Solo spin-off, all signs pointed to Wilding reprising his role as Darth for it.

However, as the actor himself explained on his Facebook page on Thursday night (July 27), he's "100% not" filming Han Solo, but appearing at a charity event in Australia, and the FandomFest promoters 'tried to guess' that was the reason for his cancellation.

"Just to let u all no I am 100% not filming on starwars... the comic con promoters of the show put 1on1 together and got 69 lol and they just try to guess y I canceled and came up with that ... so sorry guys defo not true they have removed it of there site now (sic)," Wilding wrote.

Of course, this doesn't rule out anyone else turning up as Darth in the movie, or Wilding making another appearance in a future Star Wars anthology film.

Still, one person who is definitely joining the cast is Warwick Davis, as director Ron Howard revealed this week he was 'so happy' at reuniting with the actor 30 years after they worked together on Willow.

The untitled Young Han Solo movie will be released on May 25, 2018 in US and UK cinemas.
