A social darts company has announced proposals to launch a sports bar with a difference in Newcastle city centre.

Budding Luke Littlers could soon be coming together to play darts at Eldon Square, where Flight Club has submitted an application to launch a sit in unit 6 on the lower level of Grey’s Quarter. Flight Club – which describes itself as ‘the home for social darts’ – offers guests the chance to play various games which are a twist on traditional darts, alongside cocktails and delicious sharing plates.

The company, which has electronic dartboards, television screens and cameras, was created to reinvent darts for the 21st century and make the game cool again by developing a range of fast and exciting multi-player games designed to bring people together and keep players hooked and entertained.

The application shows Flight Club could operate from the proposed site in Eldon Square from 10am to 2am Monday to Sunday.

Flight Club was first launched in London’s Shoreditch in 2015 by founders Steve Moore and Paul Barham and it now has 12 venues across the UK, as well as operation in the US and Australia. The company behind the darts leisure firm, Red Engine, also launched shuffleboard leisure firm Electric Shuffle in 2019, which now has five sites in the UK and the US.

Steve Moore, chief executive and founder of Flight Club, said: “We’re exploring bringing Flight Club to Newcastle. It’s a city that’s notorious for epic nights out so it feels like the perfect place for our next home. It’s too early to confirm any details at this stage, but Newcastle is definitely on our radar and we hope that Flight Club will become a part of its buzzing nightlife at some point in the future. We’d love to show Geordies what a Flight Club party looks like.”
