The moment a driver trashed Lewis Hamilton’s former supercar has been captured on camera by another motorist.

The Pagani Zonda 760 LH, customised for and bought by Hamilton in 2015, was sold on by the seven-time World Champion a couple of years back, and now the individual who bought it from Hamilton has been left with a hefty repair bill.

Reports emerged that the supercar had been involved in an accident in Wales, the driver losing control of the V12-powered car and hitting the wall at the Penmaenbach Tunnel in Conwy, reports which have now been validated via the aid of a dashcam.

Dashcam footage captures the incident

The accident has been documented thanks to a motorist on the scene at the time, who recorded it via their dashcam.

The Zonda can be seen overtaking in the right-hand lane at the start of the video, and then on the approach to the tunnel, in the distance the supercar then is shown striking the wall.

Thankfully, neither the driver nor anyone else was injured in the incident, with only the Zonda left looking a little worse for wear with heavy bodywork damage, which reportedly also stretched to the front and rear suspensions.

The Daily Mail identified British billionaire and GT racer Mark Radcliffe as the individual who was at the wheel, with an eye witness recalling the incident.

“The crash was so dramatic,” they said. “He hit one wall and spun round 360 degrees before bouncing off the other. There was an enormous bang and sparks everywhere. I was worried the car was going to explode.

“My wife and I were on our way to a caravan to begin our holiday and were driving on the dual carriageway.

“It was making a really loud booming noise as it overtook. There was a light rain and the surface may have been slippery.

“I watched as the car sped into the tunnel and then he seemed to suddenly lose control. He hit one wall, span round into the other, which he bounced off before finally coming to a halt.

“It was a spectacular crash and quite terrifying. My wife was quite shaken and I was concerned the car might explode so I drew to a halt and waited to check that he was okay.

“A man got out of the car and he seemed completely okay. He was just worried about the damage to the car. Once we knew he was okay we went on our way and it wasn’t until later that I discovered that it was a famous car.”

It is safe to say more damage was done this time to the car than when Lewis Hamilton hit two parked cars in Monaco, blaming that on a “result of heavy partying and not much rest for a week and a half.”
