Jan. 31—GREENSBURG — To mark February as "Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month," Greensburg Community Bread of Life and New Directions Teen Council are co-hosting "Date Night" from 5:45 to 7:15 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 8, at the Bread of Life,720 Randall Street.
The "ratatouille" themed evening will be an opportunity for local dating-age teens to meet and mingle, enjoy a free meal of pasta, breadsticks, a dessert, a beverage and a salad, and become more aware of teen dating violence. Teens are invited to come solo, as a date or with friends.
A photo booth will be available with all the necessary Paris and "ratatouille" props.
Trivia games about Teen Dating Violence Awareness will be played and prizes awarded.
New Directions' new Teen Coordinator Grace Allgeier is pleased with how the event is shaping up. As coordinator for the Teen Council, she facilitates the Safe Dates program in the local high schools and coaches the Teen Council during events to raise awareness.
"The teens have really worked hard on this. They had some great ideas, and I think it's going to be a good night," she said.
The evening is completely free, but pre-registration is necessary and the deadline to RSVP is the end of the business day Friday, Feb. 2.
