Dates you can park in Folkestone and Hythe for free this winter in run up to Christmas
As the holiday season approaches and the festive to-do lists begin to grow, free parking will be made available in Folkestone and Hythe on select dates in the runup to Christmas. Folkestone and Hythe District Council has announced that on three Saturdays this winter, parking fees will be waived around the district.
Charges at car parks owned by the council, and at on-street pay and display bays, across Folkestone and Hythe will be dropped on the three Saturdays leading up to Christmas day. These dates are Saturday, December 7, Saturday, December 14 and Saturday, December 21.
There will still be limited waiting and controlled parking zone restrictions on these three days to ensure residents can park close to their homes and that there is a sufficient turnover of spaces. FHDC offers a permit to residents for £80 a year, or £20 quarterly, allowing them to park in council-owned car parks all year round for three hours in long-term car parks and two hours in short-term car parks.

Cabinet Member for Transport, Regulatory Services and Building Control – Cllr Polly Blakemore said: “With Christmas just around the corner, the time is right to announce this year's seasonal free parking. We've got a huge range of independent traders and makers across the district, as well as big brands, making it ideal for finding that perfect present and getting your Christmas shopping done.”
