Dating Around: Where are the couples from the Netflix series now?

Just when you thought you couldn’t possibly fit another dating show into your binge-watching schedule, along comes Netflix’s first and thoroughly addictive foray into the genre.

A cross between Dinner Date, First Dates and the Tinder episode of Master of None, the impressively cinematic Dating Around has been charming, entertaining and occasionally shocking viewers ever since its well-timed debut on Valentine’s Day.

But rather frustratingly, the half-hour show – which sees one New York singleton go on five separate dates before choosing the best for a second – doesn’t feature any end-credits updates on how each couple have fared since.

So we’ve done some digging around of our own to try and found out if any of the second dates turned into a third.

1. Luke and Victoria (Episode 1)

Handsome real estate agent Luke ended up locking lips with so many of his dates that it’s hard to remember which he ended up choosing to see again.

In the end, it was Victoria, the self-effacing self-described "masshole" (an a**hole from Massachusetts), that made the biggest impression on him. However, there’s little evidence to suggest that the endearing pair are now an item.

In an Instagram post from November 2018 (the show was reportedly filmed last summer), Victoria can be seen wrapping her arms around a smiley gentleman who definitely isn’t Luke. But it’s not clear whether this is a new squeeze, a brother or just a friend.

There’s no sign of Victoria on Luke’s social media either. But the couple were so endearing together that hopefully they’re just keeping shtum to keep audiences guessing for a little longer.

2. Gurki (Episode 2)

Senior jewellery buyer Gurki Basra is one of the few contestants to have spilled any kind of beans about the Dating Around experience since its Netflix debut. And she sure had an experience.

The enchanting 37-year-old appeared to leave most of her dates smitten during her whirlwind week. But sadly a typically entitled dude-bro named Justin took umbrage with the concept of her parents’ arranged marriage and her refreshing honesty about her divorce (“You ruined eight years of your life!”).

Following the ordeal at the hands of the obnoxious mansplainer, Gurki understandably decided she would much rather go on a solo shopping trip than on a second encounter with anyone.

However, she told Refinery 29 that she’s kept in touch with several of her less insufferable match-ups and that in some way she’s glad to have endured the date from hell. "It was almost therapeutic, in a way. Bring on the negativity. I was able to handle it. Now I can move on."

Justin, perhaps unsurprisingly in the wake of the outraged response from viewers, has kept his Instagram profile entirely private.

3. Lex and Cory (Episode 3)

Theatrical set designer Lex and business asset manager Cory appeared to hit it off well in the first of Dating Around’s two LGBTQ+ themed episodes.

But considering that the former hashtagged a picture of NFL star Colin Kaepernick ‘husbandhunt2018’ on his Instagram account back in October, it seems unlikely that he and Cory are now madly in love.

However, an even bigger revelation to emerge from the 37-year-old’s social media is that he’s now friends with Jonathan, the moustachioed man who spent a large portion of their date reciting the full lyrics to one of his own songs.

4. Leonard and Dianna (Episode 4)

Hats off to Netflix for recognising that the dating game isn’t reserved entirely for millennials who look like they’ve stepped straight out of an indie rom-com.

Indeed, in a slightly surprising move, Dating Around’s fourth episode centres around a 70-year-old widower, albeit one who’s no stranger to the odd Martini, tab of LSD and terrible frog joke.

As you might expect from daters of a certain age, both Leonard and retired banker Dianna don’t appear to be prolific social media users (although the brilliant ‘Lady Gaga in 30 years’ time’ Lauren does).

But the show’s official Twitter account gave hopeless romantics some optimism with a reply to a query about the couple which suggests their autumn years relationship may still be ongoing.

5. Sarah and Matt (Episode 5)

Free-spirited, pun-addicted analytic recruiter Sarah had the most turbulent week of all the five main Dating Around participants.

She ditched strip club boss Mr. John halfway through their meal due to his constant sexual innuendo, chastised musician Adrian for telling her to "relax" and then found herself on the receiving end of a mid-date walkout following a slightly heated debate with fireman Antonio.

Oh, and she also had both software engineer Matt and Nick, another real estate agent, practically falling at her feet.

Despite repeatedly kissing the latter on the taxi ride home, Sarah chose the former for her second date, a decision which she’s since explained on Twitter.

"It actually was the moment in the cab that sorta made my mind up a bit. I met Matt immediately after the incident with Mr John and his date was the only one where I was comfortable in front of all those cameras. We had great convo that got cut for time."

However, it’s not clear yet whether the couple ever saw each other again, or indeed whether she got to tell him her eight-minute joke about Greek mythology.

6. Mila and Charlotte (Episode 6)

In stark contrast, the super-stylish make-up artist and model Mila had the smoothest Dating Around experience possible.

In fact, the 24-year-old appeared to enamour all of her five dates with the utmost ease, but in the end it was Mila's date with event producer Charlotte which proved that sometimes, it is opposites that attract.

However, Charlotte has since revealed on social media that she has a new love in her life and that sadly, she hasn't heard from Mila since.

"I hope we can be friends! I haven’t heard back from Mila sadly! Hope she’s happy and doing well we had so much fun!" she wrote in an Instagram comment, also adding: "had a blast with her then I started dating my gf and since then Mila doesn’t wanna be friends!" Sad face.

Dating Around is streaming now on Netflix.
