A new dating website set up for Donald Trump supporters has already stirred up nearly as much controversy as the man himself.

Trump Dating invites loveless singletons to sign up and meet other Americans who are “rooting for the same team”.

But while the site promises to “make dating great again”, it only seems to promise that for straight people, with no option for gay people to sign up and meet members of the same sex.

A pop-up menu on the front page asks whether you are a ‘straight man’ or ‘straight women’ – with no other options visibly available.

However, it does allow married people to join – including “unhappily married men”.

The Trump Dating homepage states: “Dating in 2018 is more of a challenge than ever before, thanks in part to today’s polarising political landscape.

“While searching for a potential partner on other dating sites, it’s not uncommon to see messages like No Trump supporters or Proud liberal.

“We’re wrecking the dating game and giving like-minded Americans a chance to meet without the awkwardness that comes with the first conversation about politics.

“Wouldn’t it be refreshing to already know that your date roots for the same team?”

With no option for gay Trump supporters to join up, people took to Twitter to blast the site:

A premium membership account on Trump Dating – that allows users to message others on the site – costs £17.75 for a one month membership or £12.78 per month for three months.

Users going in for the long haul can pay £9.95 per month for six months.
