Radio presenter Dave Berry says despite being 41, he still doesn’t feel like an adult.

He reveals his feelings about adulthood in a conversation with Kate Thornton on White Wine Question Time.

The former MTV presenter had his first child Evangeline last year with wife Sarah-Jane, and reveals he’s not only found the experience terrifying, but he also feels less adult than he has in his life.

“Nothing makes you feel more unlike an adult than becoming a parent, which is when you're meant to be an adult because it’s just terrifying,” he said. “I don't know what I'm doing! Where's the adult in this situation?”

When asked by Kate whether it had fully hit him that “this is forever and there’s no let up”, Dave replied that he had and he was fully enjoying his new found dad status.

“I mean this in a really kind of positive way,” he told Kate. “I'm really looking forward to the adventure that we have together going forwards.”

Dave, who hosts new show DadPod, which asks celebrity fathers to share their experiences, said the best bit of advice he’d got so far was to savour every moment.

“I'm really loving now,” he said, “but what's so fleeting about it is the moment, a moment that you really love and you're like, ‘Oh, she's doing this now’ you only get to hold onto that moment for probably a week.”

He added, laughing: “By the time I finish this, I'll probably get home and she’ll be smoking in the doorway, going ‘Alright Dad!’”

The Absolute Radio breakfast presenter said that he was also astounded at what time wasters babies were.

He joked: “They can bend time – babies have that ability! I've put something on pause before and I think ‘I'll just go and check on Evangeline’ and Evangline’s doing something and then by the time I get back, it's three days later, the TV's gone into that standby countdown mode.”
