Dave Grohl reveals Prince Harry gave him an iPad pillow when he visited him in hospital

Prince Harry gave Dave Grohl a pillow for his iPad when he visited him in hospital following his leg surgery.

The Foo Fighters frontman revealed that the royal stopped by the London hospital to see how he was doing after he broke his leg on stage in Sweden back in 2015.

“When I had by surgery in London, he was one of the first people to visit me afterwards,” Grohl told BBC Breakfast.

“He brought me a gift, he brought me this pillow to put my iPad on while I was in recovery.

“Yeah, he’s the sweetest. I owe you a text, Harry. He came over and there was no entourage or anything.”

He added: “It’s funny, our nanny was there and she came into the room with the kids and I said ‘This is Harry’ and it took her five or six minutes before she realised it was the prince of England. He’s a great guy.”

Drummer Taylor Hawkins had a slightly different experience with the prince when he ran into him backstage at a show and he slapped him in the face to help with his jet-lag.

“At first when you meet him and it’s Prince Harry, wow, I’ve seen you on a lot of magazines in America,” he said.

“And then you start talking and having a real talk. And I was like ‘Wow, I’m so jet-lagged right now’. We were getting ready to walk on stage, and I was tired and so jet-lagged and he just goes [slap].

“I was like, ‘What was that?’ It was great, it was funny. I wore the slap with pride, he’s one of the boys.”

The Foo Fighters have been performing at London’s O2 this week.
