If you thought that the hilariously weird Taskmaster would end with its definitive Champion of Champions series, then you'd have a fair point. You'd also be totally wrong.

Because today (February 22) it was announced that Dave has ordered not one nor two, not even three, but four brand new series of the comedy series turned competition.

Luckily for us, but not so much for the contestants, Greg Davies will return as the ruthless and omnipotent Taskmaster, while Alex Horne will also be back as his loyal assistant.

Following its huge success with both audiences and critics alike, Taskmaster and its four new series will be returning with an extended run of 10 episodes each.

The show's sixth series is due to air on Dave some time this spring, and will put five famous (and funny, natch) faces through its typically bizarre paces.

Out to impress Greg and Alex when Taskmaster returns are Alice Levine, People Just Do Nothing's Asim Chaudhry, Liza Tarbuck, Russell Howard and Not Going Out's Tim Vine.

Our money's on Chabuddy G.

Alex Horne, creator and executive producer of Taskmaster – as well as Greg Davies' minion – revealed his surprise at Dave and UKTV's decision to order yet more chaos.

"Once more I'm surprised by and indebted to the hitherto-respected performers who have agreed to put their careers on hold to do this stupid thing, and to UKTV for allowing it to happen 9 (NINE!) times.

"Also, for the record, I'm well over six foot tall," he said. Sure.
