Dave’s politically charged performance at the Brits has received more than 250 complaints.

The rapper’s stirring performance – in which he took aim at Boris Johnson and criticised the treatment of the Duchess of Sussex – won praise on social media, with many fans applauding him for being direct and saying that he had given them “goose bumps”.

But it seems it also upset a few, with media watchdog Ofcom confirming that it has received 257 complaints about the performance.

The 21-year-old rapper did not hold back as he performed an acoustic version of his track Black at the awards show earlier this month.

In an extra verse, addressing racism in Britain, he rapped: “They say you should be grateful we’re the least racist. I say the least racist is still racist. The truth is our prime minister is a real racist.”

He said Kate Middleton had been better treated in the media than Meghan Markle and addressed the Grenfell Tower disaster and Windrush, saying victims of the fire “still need accommodation and we still need support for the Windrush generation”.

He won best album for Psychodrama.
