Yahoo News David Attenborough is releasing a new book called A Life on Our Planet
Exciting news – Sir David Attenborough has a new book coming out! A Life On Our Planet: My Witness Statement and Vision for the Future is the latest work by the broadcaster and natural historian. It is to be released in October 202o at the same time as the global release of a Netflix documentary of the same name, commissioned by the World Wildlife Federation.
The "legacy-defining" book is subtitled as David Attenborough's "witness statement", as it will look back at his lifetime exploring and documenting the natural world, including first-hand observation of the decline of the environment and biodiversity. It is also his vision for the future, as the book talks of what and the planet face if we carry on as we are, and how to avoid it.
We can't begin to imagine the experience and wisdom he's gained over his 94 years on the planet. Attenborough has shared a remarkable amount of knowledge with the public over the years through countless television programs and previous books, making him an icon of the natural world like no other. So, you can expect big things from this book; tackling the urgent environmental situation the planet is facing.
Attenborough said in the press release: "This book records some of the dreadful damage mankind has already wrought upon the natural world, and the real and imminent danger that things could get much, much worse if we do not act now. But it is also a hopeful book: It offers a different future. It describes some of the ways in which we can begin to turn things around if only we all have the will to do so. Surely together we must now find that determination, and begin to make that change, for the sake of all the inhabitants of our planet."
