David Beckham Says He 'Hated Almost Every Moment' of Making His Netflix Docuseries
“It worried me and it made me nervous and it made Victoria nervous,” Beckham said
Despite its runaway success, David Beckham recently revealed that the experience making his Netflix docuseries was anything but pleasant.
Speaking at the Royal Television Society on Tuesday, Sept. 17, Beckham, 49, admitted that filming the project was “difficult” and resulted in him and his wife, Victoria Beckham, 50, feeling “nervous,” according to Variety.
“It worried me and it made me nervous and it made Victoria nervous,” Beckham said. “I hated almost every moment of making it…it was very difficult.”

The soccer legend explained, “It took me a long time to come to terms with the fact that I was going to make it but there was a few reasons why we wanted to make it.”
Beckham stated that after retiring from the sport, he wasn’t ready to open up and rehash his iconic career — but during the pandemic he changed his outlook.
“When I retired I wasn’t ready to talk about my career and what had happened. Through the pandemic, it’s when documentaries really exploded and it was coming up to the 10-year anniversary of my retirement from football,” he said.
Beckham added that despite his family’s overwhelming fame due to being in the spotlight for almost three decades, fans really don’t know them as well as they might think.
“As much as people think they know everything about us they don’t really and we don’t really let those doors open to our house, but I knew it was the right time [to tell] the story,” he explained.

Beckham also took some time to gush over Victoria’s upcoming Netflix docuseries, which he says has him “really excited.”
"She is an amazing woman,” Beckham said of his wife. “She’s a strong, driven, passionate person who’s gone from being a Spice Girl to being respected in this industry, it’s very tough. She’s worked hard for 18, 19 years on her business and suddenly she’s having the success she deserves.”
