In the powerful video, the camera zooms in on the star’s topless back to show a baby screaming as its being whacked by an adult.

The camera pans across David’s shoulder and a man is seen creeping into a toddler’s room.

A school bell rings and an animated sketch of a teacher angrily squaring up to a child, as their class mates point and snicker, comes into view.

A group of bullies circle around a child and kick him.

Finally, a young girl’s shrilling scream pierces the brief silence as she’s snatched by a man in the street.

The video is seemingly reaching out to potential offenders, asking them to stop before they commit acts of violence.

David, 41, said in a statement he is committed to doing “everything I can to make the world a safer place for children and to speak out on issues that are having a devastating impact on children’s lives”.

On a recent trip to Cambodia, he heard first hand accounts of the violence children had experienced.

He said: “I was shocked by what I heard, and I saw how violence can leave deep and lasting scars,” he said.

“No child should have to endure this.

“Yet in all corners of the world, in their homes, schools and on their streets, children are suffering similar violence.”

David urged his fans to share the emotive video.
