David Beckham has heaped praise on Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney for their transformative work as co-chairmen of Wrexham, as the team continues its meteoric rise.

On the field, the Red Dragons clinched a second consecutive promotion last season, securing their spot in League One for the forthcoming term. Finishing as runners-up in the fourth tier, their impressive 88-point tally was achieved after the club's owners brought in talents such as Steven Fletcher and James McClean to bolster their ranks.

In addition to success on the pitch, the North Wales side has also garnered a global cult following due to the club's Hollywood connections and the popular "Welcome To Wrexham" docuseries. Now, former Manchester United and Real Madrid star Beckham has expressed his admiration for the efforts of Reynolds and McElhenney.

The former England skipper is also a club co-owner himself with MLS outfit Inter Miami, having built on his time Stateside during his playing career to establish the club in 2018. Over the past six years, the Florida franchise has seen exponential growth as a football powerhouse - with world-renowned names including Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez being enticed by Beckham in the past year.

Reflecting on his journey as a team owner, the former Paris Saint-Germain midfielder shared insights into his move to the US. "I do think they play into it. That's why I moved to America in 2007 with my family to join the MLS and to join the Galaxy - because I knew that there was potential," reports the Mirror.

"It was always going to be a challenge, and I'm glad that I played a small role in making the league as big as it is now, but it takes moments like what we've just done," he continued, before commending Wrexham's owners: "It takes things like 'Ted Lasso,' and it takes people like Ryan and Rob to give it that bit of air."

Beckham expressed confidence in the growing appeal of soccer in the States, adding: "I've always said it: America wants to be the best at everything. I love that and that's why I wanted to live in America, because I love that culture, that positivity."

Known for his active involvement at the Racecourse Ground, comedic actor Reynolds humorously commented on the tasks ahead following Wrexham's promotion, quipping: "Everyone's celebrating and I have my head in my hands because it just turns into 800 emails about 'Here's what we have to do to be in League One. Infrastructure, all these different things.'"

He also shared a chat with his business partner about going to the match that secured Wrexham's promotion, remembering he questioned the 'It's Always Sunny' creator: "Shall we go?" and got the response: "It's almost mathematically impossible."

Reflecting on witnessing the club's ascent to League One from the Deadpool set, he expressed his disbelief: "I can't believe I'm not there! I mean it wasn't like a sure thing you know. I was like 'yeah might happen but might not' but wow."
