David Beckham, Wayne Rooney and Vincent Kompany pay respects to victims of Manchester terror attack

David Beckham, Wayne Rooney and Vincent Kompany have paid their respects to victims of the suicide bomb attack Manchester on Monday.

22 people were killed in the blast at an Ariana Grande concert inthe Manchester Arena.

In a message posted on Facebook, Beckham, the former England captain and Manchester United legend, paid his respects to the victims.

“Heartbreaking news from Manchester. As a father & a human what has happened truly saddens me. My thoughts are with all of those that have been affected by this tragedy...”

Wayne Rooney and Vincent Kompany, the respective captains of Manchester United and City, took to social media this morning to pay their respects.

Rooney tweeted: "Devastating news this morning. Thoughts and prayers are with all those affected” while City skipped Kompany called for ‘unity’.

He tweeted: “I would like to express my deepest condolences to the families of the victims. It's a sad day for the great city of Manchester. #Unity.”

Manchester United and Manchester City offered similar condolences in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

Manchester United will face Ajax in the Europa League Final on Wednesday, and Uefa have confirmed that ‘tight security’ arrangements will be in place.

In a statement released on the Uefa’s official website, the European governing body moved quickly to calm fans ahead of the Final – insisting that ‘tight security’ arrangements have been in place ‘since the very beginning of the project’.
