David Furnish has posted a touching tribute to his mother Gladys following her “peaceful” passing.
Furnish, 56, who is married to Sir Elton John honoured her passing on Friday, sharing a message on his Instagram account alongside a black and white photo of his parents on their wedding day.
The Canada native wrote: "Today I lost my beautiful, angelic Mother. She passed away peacefully in the middle of the night, with me and my brothers by her side.
"Mum radiated gentle kindness. She was utterly devoted to her family. We all richly benefitted from her patient wisdom and bountiful love.
"I treasure this photo of Mum and Dad on their wedding day - bursting with joy and fresh-faced optimism over their union and the life they planned to build together. They shared the greatest love I have ever known; A rock-solid foundation from which my brothers and I flourished.
"Rest in peace Mum. You lived your life impeccably. I will never forget you. I promise to do my best to pass the gifts you gave to me on to my own beautiful sons."
Furnish's tribute comes after his husband of five years revealed he has battled alcoholism in the past.
In his upcoming memoir, Me: Elton John, the singer divulges that his fame took its toll on Furnish as he struggled to get to grips with long bouts of loneliness while home alone during tours.
John, 72, details that after a huge row between them, Furnish checked himself into rehab for treatment and went on to support his spouse as they went to Alcoholics Anonymous meetings together.
The pair, who began dating in 1993, share two sons, Zachary, eight, and six-year-old Elijah.
