Actor and writer David Haig will bring the true story of an unlikely Second World War hero to the stage 20 years after he had a hit with My Boy Jack, another wartime tale.

Haig will play Scottish meteorologist James Stagg in Pressure at North London’s Park Theatre.

The play, which Haig describes as “a thriller about the weather”, recreates the run-up to D-Day when Stagg advised General Eisenhower on when a storm would break allowing the allies to cross the Channel.

He said: “It is a tale of the little man or woman who has a huge effect on history.”

Pressure, also starring Malcolm Sinclair as Eisenhower and Laura Rogers as his driver and confidante, runs from March 28 to April 28.
