David James and Nadiya Bychkova are the latest couple to be booted out of Strictly Come Dancing 2019.

The former England goal keeper, 49, and his professional partner, 30, received 16 points last night after their Jive to ‘Such A by Night’ by Michael Buble.

They were placed at the bottom of the league table after failing to pick up more votes from the public, leaving them in the bottom two with Mike Bushell and Katya Jones.

The couples then faced off against each other in the dance off, with Bushell and Jones performing their Salsa to 'Jump On It' by The Sugar Hill Gang again.

But judges Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse, Shirley Ballas and guest judge Alfonso Ribeiro unanimously voted to keep Bushell and Jones.

Ribero, who came under fire from fans after giving Bushell and Jones a seven, said: "The couple who I’m going to save put on a great show. The technique wasn’t there but they came out and delivered a showstopper for the audience to love so I’m going to save Mike And Katya.”

Craig said: "Well for me both couples were pretty much technically equal but the couple who I’d like to save were the most confident performers and that was Mike And Katya."

Speaking to presenter Tess Daly about his time on the show, James said: Oh I’ve loved it. I feel so bad I’ve let Nadiya down in a sense. I’ve enjoyed it but I’ve put some weight on though.”

He added: “[His highlights were] having the best partner and the guys up there. Everyone’s lovely. Just a word to Will: I think I work hard, but, man, that guy puts a shift in.”

Bychkova added: “He’s done so well. I’m so proud of you. From the first day he couldn’t lift his elbows up or stand straight and now he’s delivered such an amazing jive. I’m so proud.”

Sunday’s Results show opened with a group performance and singer Mabel performing her single 'Don’t Call Me Up'.

Strictly returns to BBC One on Saturday, October 26 at 6.35pm.
