David Tennant plays infamous serial killer in ITV's Des trailer

From Digital Spy

Doctor Who, Good Omens and St Trinian's 2: The Legend of Fritton's Gold star David Tennant is heading a brand new big drama from ITV, which has just dropped its first trailer.

Des will see the actor play infamous serial killer Dennis Nilsen. Between the late 1970s and early 1980s, he murdered 15 men who were homeless or off-the-grid in his North London flat.

After his arrest, he confessed to his crimes, but he did not remember the names of his victims, which led the police to open a huge investigation in order to find out who they are.

Line of Duty star Daniel Mays will play Detective Peter Jay, who led the police investigation to get justice for the murdered, while The Crown star Jason Watkins will play Brian Masters, who acted as Nilsen's biographer.

The trailer shows all three cast members interacting with each other, with Tennant looking particularly unsettling with his blank expressions, cardigans and Blanche-from-Corrie glasses.

Fans of Marvel's Jessica Jones will know that Tennant is just as good at playing slimy, horrible men as he is playing charismatic Time Lords, so we should be in a for an immersive viewing with this one.

Similarly to Quiz, which starred fellow Good Omens lead Michael Sheen, this will be a three-part drama. ITV haven't given a specific date for the premiere just yet, but we do know that it will come in September.
