David and Victoria Beckham have released a statement branding today’s divorce rumours as ‘Chinese whispers’.
The comments came after rumours swirled online that the pair were to split, after top bookies slashed the odds and stopped taking bets altogether.
The couple’s rep said: ‘There is no statement due or divorce.
‘This is just fake social media news. This is all very bizarre and an embarrassing waste of time.
‘There is no statement due, no divorce, and a lot of Chinese whispers and fake social media news.’
David, 43, and Victoria, 44, have been married for 19 years and have a family together, as Twitter became flooded with speculation about an imminent split.
Despite rumours of affairs over the years – most famously, the allegations of an extra-marital relationship with family nanny Rebecca Loos – the ex-England captain has always denied any allegations he’s ever cheated on his wife.
The iconic couple first met and married back in 1999 when David was playing football in England for Manchester United and Victoria was experiencing the height of her Spice Girls fame.
After spending their early years in England, the Beckhams moved to the US, where David further pursued his sports career with LA Galaxy and has remained there ever since.
Earlier today, Victoria posted a photo of her and daughter Harper, captioned: ‘Morning cuddles x So much love. We love and miss u @davidbeckham ‘.
Victoria and David have four children together – Brooklyn, 19, Romeo, 15, Cruz, 13, and Harper, 6.
The Beckhams recently appeared together at Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding last month in Windsor.
