David Walliams took some time off from preparing to host the National Television Awards for the first time to hilariously mock his friends Amanda Holden and Simon Cowell.

The Britain’s Got Talent judge, who is also nominated in the TV Judge and Best Talent categories during tonight's (January 28) ceremony, appeared to be taking style tips from his fellow judges in a string of images posted on his Instagram.

In the photos, the comedian, 48, dressed up as his fellow panellists Cowell, Holden and Alesha Dixon in an effort to kick off the annual TV's event.

In costume as Cowell, Walliams sported his white shirt unbuttoned in the style of the 60-year-old music mogul and also wore the head judge’s famous aviator sunglasses.

Elsewhere he impersonated Holden, 48, with a bedazzled pink dress with a plunging neckline and honey-blonde wig.

For former Mis-Teeq member Dixon, he tied his wig half up, half down and posed in a sequinned gold dress.

Television stars will be out in force tonight, as the NTAs will take place at London's O2 Arena.

After hitting the red carpet, celebs will head into the ceremony to find out who has been victorious this year, and contenders include Ant and Dec (who are going for a record-breaking win) and Phoebe Waller-Bridge.

Waller-Bridge’s Fleabag has received a nod in the comedy category, while drama series Killing Eve is also nominated.

Jodie Comer is also up for Best Drama Performance for her depiction of assassin Villanelle in the BBC thriller.

Walliams is stepping up to host the awards for the first time after Dermot O’Leary, who held the position for nine years, announced last year he was stepping down from hosting duties.

Standard Online will be bringing you all the latest pictures and updates from the red carpet at 5pm.

The ceremony is due to start at 7.30pm and will be aired on ITV. It's expected to wrap up at 10pm.
