Davina McCall diagnosed with brain tumour as she asks fans to 'pray for me'
Davina McCall has revealed she has a brain tumour as she asked for prayers as she undergoes surgery. The ITV Masked Singer judge and Big Brother legend has today revealed she is having surgery to remove a a 14mm benign tumour.
She said: "A few months ago, I did a menopause talk for a company and they offered me a health scan in return, which I thought I was gonna ace. But it turned out I had a benign brain tumour called a colloid cyst which is very rare.
"Three in a million. So I slightly put my head in the sand." Davina added: "I saw quite a few neurosurgeons, I got lots of opinions and I realised that I have to get it taken out. It's big for the space. It fills the space. It's 14mm wide and it needs to come out, because if it grows, it would be bad. So I'm having it removed via a craniotomy.

"They go through the top of my head here and through the two halves of my brain to the middle, and get the cyst, take it out, empty it, take it out and Bob's your uncle." Davina said she was in "good spirits" but asked fans for their support, adding: "So say a prayer for me."
Colloid cysts are benign growths usually located either in the third ventricle or at or near the foramen of Monro, which is found at the anterior aspect of the brain's third ventricle. The cysts comprise epithelial lining filled with gelatinous material that commonly contains mucin, old blood, cholesterol, and ions.
Colloid cysts can cause a variety of symptoms, including headaches, diplopia, memory problems, and vertigo. Rarely, colloid cysts have been reported to cause sudden death. Patients who are living with colloid cysts and are asymptotic do not necessarily warrant treatment if their colloid cyst is small (less than 1 cm) as colloid cysts that are smaller than 1 cm are less likely to cause ventricular obstruction and hydrocephalus.
