Davina McCall has made an "enormous leap forward" in her recovery from major surgery following a benign brain tumour diagnosis, her partner has shared.

The Big Brother presenter and Masked Singer judge, 57, told fans in a video posted to Instagram last week that a rare cyst had been discovered on her brain during a routine health check. The star was inundated with support from friends across the world of TV as she shared that she would be undergoing major surgery to remove the tumour.

And in an update posted on her behalf to her Instagram page on Monday by partner Michael Douglas, fans were relieved to hear that Davina had made "mega progress" within the last 24 hours. Hair stylist Michael wrote: "She really has made an enormous leap forward in the last 24 hours. She is out of ICU. She is 'loving awareness'."

He added: "Massive relief to see some light breaking through. Thanks for all the good vibes coming in from all angles."

In a previous update at the weekend, Michael said that the surgery was "textbook", but that Davina was recovering in the ICU (Intensive Care Unit) as a precaution and was feeling "utterly exhausted". The comments section was quickly filled with tens of thousands of messages from well-wishes, including from famous faces such as Dannii Minogue, Suranne Jones, Alan Carr and Amanda Holden.

Davina explained on Friday that she was having a craniotomy to remove the cyst, and was expected to remain in hospital for nine days after the operation before coming home to continue her recovery. The star asked fans to "say a prayer" for her, but said she was feeling "in good spirits" about the procedure.

She told fans in an Instagram video: "Hi, so I'm posting this it will be Friday morning. I'm posting it because a few months ago I did a menopause talk for a company and they offered me a health scan in return, which I thought I was going to ace, but it turned out I had a benign brain tumour called a colloid cyst, which is very rare. Three in a million!"

She continued: "So I slightly put my head in the sand for a while, and then I saw quite a few neurosurgeons, I got lots of opinions. I realised that I have to get it taken out. It's big for the space - it fills the space. It's 14mm wide. And it needs to come out because if it grows it would be bad."

Her partner Michael then appeared in the clip and promised fans: "I will have my eye on her". He went on to joke: "The important thing is that her [hair] parting will be in the same place!"
